I was particularly taken by this section from First Minister Peter Robinson's speech today. To my mind, it's the first time a DUP leader has acknowledged, in a positive sense, anything to do with the Irish language.
"We have made a good start. There are some in this chamber who have in the past quoted an old Irish proverb or aphorism which being interpreted says 'a good start is half the job'."
And it's a good speech in the round as well, free of rancour and full of ambition and hope. Tús maith leath na hoibre, gan amhras.

there was hope for us all until Gregory Campbell vented his spleen on the Irish Language Act about two hours after the "Tús Maith "speech of Peter Robinson. "There has been no Irish Language Act and there will be no Irish Language Act" he shouted at the TV camera in the surly manner that only a bitter DUP politician can achieve. In the same report he was touted as the new "Culture" Minister in place of Edwin Poots.God save us from all harm.
Maitin ,keep taking the tablets, de-NIAL is not a big river in Egyp"!
here's a modern irish proverb: 'desperate chucks grasp at any old straw!'
i think its comon sense to spend money on the health service rather than a dying language
